A Salsa and Mariachi Concert at the Severance Music Center during Hispanic Heritage Month in Cleveland

Next Saturday, September 14th, Cleveland’s Hispanic community will come together to celebrate the start of Hispanic Heritage Month with a musical event. Thanks to the efforts of the Cleveland Orchestra’s Hispanic Community Engagement Committee, the Severance Music Center will open its doors for a free community event. The main event will feature the legendary “King of Salsa,” Sammy DeLeón, who will perform with his orchestra, expanded on this occasion to an impressive ensemble of 22 musicians. With a career that has made history in Cleveland’s music scene and beyond, Sammy DeLeón is known for his unmatched talent in Latin jazz and salsa.

The evening will begin with a special performance by Mariachi Sirenas, an all-female mariachi group. This ensemble, formed by 11 talented musicians, has gained recognition for its powerful interpretation of mariachi traditions, bringing a fresh and feminine perspective to the genre. Their performance will be the perfect start to a night of cultural celebration.

To guide the audience through this evening of music and culture, renowned salsa historian, author, and film producer Eileen Torres will host the event. With her vast knowledge and passion for salsa, Torres will share stories and anecdotes that will further enrich the audience’s experience.

The evening of Saturday, September 14th, will kick off at 6:00 p.m. with drinks and dancing in the Grand Foyer, where DJ IAmYulissa will set the perfect mood to start the party. The main event will begin at 7:00 p.m.
